It will draw power and drain the batteries even if the switch is off, The only reason i can see u doing this is because you are worried the connecters will come apart during the race leaving u dead on the track, i suggest deans plugs and if the problem is them separating, use a small zip tie and cinch the plugs so they stay together, u can run the tie right between the positive and neg wires and they will not separate unless u cut the tie
