Hello,
I had the same problem with hard wires with an other motor (orion 2050kV). Shortwires internally and broken wires with vibrations. That's why i decided to change for a Castle motor with soft wires.
Moreover the neu motors have open can, which isn't very good for offroad application :(
The only pro of the neu is its efficiency, some people says here (FRANCE) that neu motor is 90% efficient, and castle motor 87%, but we didn't check, you have maybe more reliable numbers....
Buy a Castle 1520, perfect for truggy ;)

Hum, the tekin motors are a little weak, compare to Castle.
Tekin buggy motors : 1200Watts
Tekin Truggy motors : 1400Watts
Castle 1515 1Y 2200kV : 1500Watts
Castle 1520 1Y 1600kV : 1800-2000Watts
And tekin rotors...... :(

Yes ^^
But with a motor more powerfull your temps would be lower and the run times maybe longer. But if the tekin truggy 1550kV keep his temp under 140-150°F during summer, that's good.

Feigao is even cheaper though, but....

Whatever works best for the individual & whatever is easily available too. It sucks having to pay for recorded shipping to return motors etc, but you dont wanna loose something that expensive either.

In europe, I'd say look into the lehners, hackers and those other german motors that people were interested in recently, cant remember the name thoough...

Plettenberg. The ony "Pletty" suited for a Monster is probably the BigMaxximum, very expensive (309 euro in Europe) but, probably, one of the best motor so far.

Bye, Andrea.

Heh heh, I wasnt actually thinking of the Pletts- those are nice motors but way more expensive. Nah, its another brand of ( I think ) German motors- either 4 pole or 6 pole, but a bit shorter than the usual stuff we use- sort of buggy sized motors at most...

Were you using timing in that motor?

Neus repairs are pretty economical – I sent motors in recently and they updated parts for free. Not mingy parts the stator and winding. IME they replace the hard wires with softwires no for no cost.

Alternativley ask Neu about a 1400 series motor in exchange for the repair of the 1500 – the deal is good All the same attributes and lighter again but with a sealed can. I have guys using these in 1/8's and loving blowing the doors off the nitros.

Neu's have a heap of invisible extras that you can access if you set them up (but for off road the 1500s need a cover - air filter foam or similar on endplates).

* same output for less energy use than Chinese motors - especially in the low amp ranges cars spend their time -15-20% extra runtime
* high efficiency down to about 10 amps (cars usually only average 20-30 amps when raced) the chinese motors are 50% or so at those amp levels so thay tend ot run hot
* about 8% more torque
* very high power handling - the Chinese motors are falling away quickly over 80 amps Neus hit the same problems about 150
* for the same size motors the Neus are lighter - better power to weight better acceleration and handling
* the big addition to their value is the extra they get out of the same cells

Set the car up correctly and you can realize all these benefits.

Email me if you like - andrew@fastelectrics.com and I can give you a couple of tips on making the Neu motor work better still for you.

Don’t give the motor away – because the person who gets it will repair it for a little money and blow by you and run longer next weekend

Nope, I had a bit of a look around and couldnt find them- I dont think they were any cheaper really so not worth pursuing really.

On a side note; Shawn Palmer now works for Speed Passion? Wah? Thats either a good thing ( get them producing decent escs and motors ), or a bad thing ( good guy, lousy company/ escs etc ).

That said, they apparenty have some new motors in development that look promising- heres the thread over at rctech:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...shless-51.html

Intreguing to say the least...
