My general rule is to take as little pills/shots and what not as possible.

If you don't NEED it, don't take it.

Our bodies lasted thousands of years without vaccines, I think they will be fine.

Now I understand if getting vaccinated for X is a sure life/death situation (certain baby illnesses), but things like the flu (which is all swine flu is - flu) are too common to get all worked up about.

I have immensely terrible allergies (pretty much allergic to anything that's green - plant, mold, weed, grass - you name it). And even so I take my allergy medicine maybe 30 days out of the year - if that. I only take it on the worst days where I can't stop sneezing.

I use to take a pill daily (Claritin) and after about 2 years it now does not work at all (my body got used to it and is not fully resistant to the effects). I do not want that to happen with the rest of the allergy pills that work for me, so I only take them when needed.

Same goes for pain killers - unless I'm seriously suffering, I refuse to take any. I can be in pain to the point where I'm rolling on the ground gritting my teeth and I'll still refuse to take them. Goes under the same reasoning. If I take them for every small headache, then one day they won't work when I really really need them.
