dimensions: 53.4x96.4mm, 39mm can

So the can is 39mm and the fins are 53.4. By my calculations the can is significantly smaller than the Castle 1717 by volume (cylinder = Pi x r2 x length)

1717: pi x (23^2) x 85 = 141,262 mm3
KD: pi x (19.5^2) x 96.4 = 115,158 mm3

giving the 1717 22.67% greater volume (and therefore BIGGER)

Wtf is that thing suposed to be, I'd be amazed if it could fit in any truck with those rediculous fins. And yeah, its rather unlikely to be a match for the 1717 if used in the same setup. Kinda.. nay, seriously lame.

Here are a few of Dan's comments about the motor:

interesting that he writes: "The motor came through with an entirely different look than expected - Just as long, but narrow"

Doesn't seem very professional. I mean, how can you commission the production of your own line of motors with out really knowing exactly what you are producing?

I know this is not the correct thread but that FD Baja conversion just looks really cheesy.
Why is the motor facing the oppisite side of the spur grear, doesn't look reliable at all Nor does the 158.99 motor. What kind of qaulity/efficentcy can be had for that cheap of a price ??

Wow, Mike has great prices on the Castle line !
But I was really refering to the 1/5 scale motor not the samller 1515 sizes.

I even kinda have my doubts that the 1717 with it's 6s Limit being enough to be really efficent for a 28+lb baja ?

I had the same thoughts - but then I also wondered what exactly Castle was targeting the 1717 for? It seems too big for 1/8 scale trucks but too small for 1/5 scale.

I know, that's why the, just saying, as the implication was double, not only does 159 buy alot these days from Mike, and you'd probably be better off buying a undersized 1515 for your application, then spending 159 on something as listed.
IMO A 39 x 96 , offbrand, doesn't really seem to me like it would be any better then a 1515.

Perfect overkill for 1/8 scale

Seriously, what a pile! I can't believe people would actually pay money for that hack job. Thank God Mike doesn't make garbage like this and I know his baja conversion will sorely put the kershaw junk to shame.
