nuz i have this motor in my extended savage... considerably heavier than your truggy... i have it currently geared to 53mph (calculator says) and i get temps only as a high as 120degrees on the motor and less on the esc... temps are very low! i was considering gearing up but left it as it is and ill just run it on 9s when i have the funds

Good news ;) 120F is pretty cold for your savage and gearing Today, my motor was at 110F on front and 125F on rear plate after one battery, it was sunny and ambient was 75F. I am geared for 48 mph but without a lot of ballooning :D
The video is uploading at the moment

I ran 2 batteries this afternoon, I tried to push the motor to its limit :D

158F on the rear plate and 130F on the front after the 2 batteries, ambient was 80F, and it was on heavy grass, with 17/46 ~50mph ! There is still safety gap with the 170F limit... but on race or normal bash the temp keeps at 130-140 max on the rear plate...
45-50mph on grass is very impressive :D I love see that thing wheeling on demand, even at mid speed :D
But I am disapointed with RCM pignons... it seems to use itself pretty quickly, maybe due to the extra weight of the truggy ? I have a NOVAK one in my buggy and it's still in good shape after 250 batteries...
