No matter what your first car is, it will still be a memorable one. In 1992 i bought my first car, a 1980 toyota celica. Lots of memories from that car. Even though it was slow and underpowered it was still fun. There really is no need to get an "extension" for your first car, it will probably be totalled in the first year anyway, especially with all the kids texting while driving these days.
