Once you get a temp gun, (should have ben bought long ago) I think you'll see your probably worrying for nothing.

Raising the punch control will help with temps as well, make sure your motor timing is set at Low or Normal at the most.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

Punch is at 10% right now, timing is set to default

I know, read it in the first post.

Like I said, if you raise the PC it will help w/temps

I think motor timing at default is "normal" and thats OK, but again on low it will help w/temps also.

If you can hold your finger on the motor then you are fine , but if you are unsure then a temp gauge would be cheap insurance .

I have that duratrax one too. It reads about 20 degrees under compared to my odonnell one. I think I changed a setting to "6"? For reading anodised things.. Then it was better. Its been awhile since Ive used it.. So Im a bit fuzzy on the numbers.

That's a good temp gauge especially for the price. Like said, 20 dollar insurance on 1k plus in truck is pretty cheap.

I have an IR gun too. Its a required tool, no toolbox should be w/o it.

Plus for $20, you can diagnose problems quickly, and you won't have to bother Patrick and distract him from his very important work of finishing the HV MMM for final release, among other things.

Temp guns can be used all over the place, including drivelines, slippers, pinions and many other places to see if there is excessive binding and wear.

Please please please finish the HVMMM? My motor temps are Room Temp, as I have no (decent) controller to run my truck.

Its making me, my Savage XL, my 10S/8S worth of batts, and my 1521 all very sad, snarky and sarcastic.
If you need beta testers.. I may know of someone, and its not Chris L.. ;)

@ Freeze: The HPI manual recommends the motor stay below 190F. Considering you are still typing with those fingers, you're prolly gtg.

The HVMMM is done -- just waiting for final Beta feedback. :)

Yeah, I stick mine up to my wife and tell here she's hot! Hey, if it gets me a roll in the hay I can be corny all day long.

I also use it on my driveline for my Losi Crawler and numerous other places. The 20 bux definitely paid for itself.

So Patrick, top secret Traxxas hmmmm? You know you just opened up a whole can of "Patrick what is this new Controller" don't you?

Of course you probably like it as it feeds the ego huh, all us kids asking "when daddy Pat when?"
