I have an IR gun too. Its a required tool, no toolbox should be w/o it.
Plus for $20, you can diagnose problems quickly, and you won't have to bother Patrick and distract him from his very important work of
finishing the HV MMM for final release, among other things.
Temp guns can be used all over the place, including drivelines, slippers, pinions and many other places to see if there is excessive binding and wear.
