You didn't shave this which makes contact.

I remembered I saved the steering mod in my bookmarks so I dug it out:

Looking at those pics you need to be shaving a heck of a lot more than you did. So unless RPM parts differ from stock you didn't increase steering, you only weaked the part by a very small amount ;)
