Isnt running a 1717 on 8s a little risky considering the motor is only rated to 45,000rpm?

If you run this motor on 8s, at 3.7v the motor is operating at 46,768rpm and at 4.2v its at 53,000+rpm!!!!!

So this would be a little worrying...

That is why i bought the 1520 as it is still rated to 60,000rpm ;) and i want to push 9s through it ;)

just a little heads up... im sure it would be fine to run 8s but just thought i would mention this if you didnt know

Its borderline, but that is the unloaded rated IIRC. Kv should drop, as should voltage under load. I don't think it will see quite that high of rpm, but surely over 40K tho. It would need a really tough controller to handle that much power tho. I can only imagine the amp draw

I was playing w/ some gear calcs yesterday, and I was thinking about the CC 1520 on 8s too. The 1717 is superbaddass too, so IDK.
