The 8S controller has a switching 5A BEC (with programmable output voltage,) the 12S controller is opto.

Do you now if the conversion kit will include a pinion and if so, what tooth count?

Yes I do know that.
It will include a pinion -- 14 tooth. We will have option pinions of 12tooth, 16tooth and 18tooth.
