Another question for Patrick... - 12.19.2010, 12:44 PM

1410 motor has a 1/8" output shaft and I believe you mentioned that this was for ROAR requirements. I didn't take the motor apart to measure it but the bearing looks like it could accomodate a 5MM output shaft. If you offer rebuild kits for the 1410, would there be an option of a 5MM output shaft?

I have no concern about the 1/8" shaft in a car with a slipper, but in a CRT.5/SCRT10 or similar car with direct drive and exposed gears, I would be concerned that a stone in the gear could snap the 1/8" shaft (actually heard 2nd hand reports on RCTech of people snapping these shafts). Then you would have to replace the rotor anyway, so why not do it right away with a 5MM output shaft rotor?

+1 on the 5mm shaft request. I too would prefer 5mm shaft if it was available. Even a 4mm shaft would be preferable to the 1/8".

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Side note... I ran the 1410 motor yesterday at the track for the first time in my SCRT and I gotta say its is a seriously great bang for your buck motor. Felt even more powerful than the HV4.5 motor I was running and it ran cool and smooth. Very impressed with the whole SCT 1410/sidewinder combo. The esc handled running the 6.2lb truck with no issues at all. I cant imagine how you actually did it but for $120 (less in many places) this thing absolutely rocks. Really looking forward to the 1412 version of this motor. (But please don't make me buy a MMP to get one...)
