I'll add that I mentioned nothing of enforcing patents in China - I was suggesting that two US companies (Neu and CC) could ask their two US dealers (OSE and KD) to stop selling the clones. And I am genuinely interested in the answer. Again without insinuating anything.

It's a good question

If I were using them as distributor for my product I'd be evaluating the situation

The distributor agreements may not be exclusive (might not even exist), they may not reference cloned motors, they (OSE, KD) may in fact sell enough of the CC/Neu product to be too valuable to loose as a distributor??

I haven't had a look inside the Leopard motor but a friend bought a 4074-2150kv for his Hyper7 and seeing it run seems like a good motor. Must be reasonably efficient because it stays pretty cool and power is similar to my CC 1515-2200kv.

Now I don't want to start anything but what exactly makes them a clone? Fact that they are 4 pole motor? Fact that they look similar? I am confused. How different can you make one motor look from another?

Not defending anyone but just trying to wrap my head around it. Also what brian015 said makes a lot of sense. Why is Castle allowing their US dealers to sell the Leopard motor side by side next to their product? If Castle felt so strongly that Leopard motors are a clone surely they would have put a stop to it.

what people won't do to save a buck... which I completely understand.

Money sucks.

I'll stick with Castle and have a course of action if I ever need service or exchange. That there is worth the extra cost.

Then you have higher efficiency, better quality materials, better qc (compared to none I presume) and you start to wonder why one would skimp?

People buy this crap hoping for CC quality results while keeping enough money to super size their value meal. These are the same dreamers that take out mortgages on homes they couldn't possibly afford.

Let the buyer beware
