Nope. Just remove it's connector from the ESC's reciever plug and tape it to the other wires to keep it out of the way. You could use shrink tube if you want. By removing the red wire you are preventing the external BEC and the ESC's onboard BEC from interfering with each other. The ESC recieves power from it's onboard BEC, and the radio system/servos recieve power from the external BEC.
