in my opinion - i would have to say that given the right circumstance any speed controller will get hot ( overgearing etc. ) however if your speed controller and motor are paired for the given type of driving you will be doing ( racing, bashing, high speed runs etc )then i would say that no it is not necessary. I have always run a fan and probably always will run a fan - i would rather have my speed controller run cooler than hotter. Even if not necessary - its a small investment (fan) so i would rather be safe than thermal... Just my .02:D


Hows that "Hope and Change" working out for Ya???
