ROAR's new motor rules for the 4x4 SC class -
06.23.2011, 01:39 PM
http://radiocontrolzone.com/showthre...=1#post2465750
Looks like a direct attack from Novak to stop Tekin from selling any 4 pole 550 motors, also seems to knock out any castle 4 pole as well. Another reason i don't run with roar rules

What a load of c***...
Not that ROAR matters for me, in my case it would be EFRA, but I just hope this doesn't damage development of new motors and new technologies in general.

That is total BS since Castle created the 1410 1y motor within ROAR rules at the time and now it has been black flagged. Just before reading this I took my MMP out of my SC10 4x4 and put the Sidewinder SCT esc in so that I have the complete system in the truck. I have been running a CRC 5600 65C 2s pack in it at my lhs track, gonna run a speedpassion 30C pack next time though. Guys at the track are starting to get a little PO'd that I'm killing them. They say it's the battery, I say it's their driving that sucks! In a 4 minute main I had 2 laps on second place.
Anyhow I'm glad the tracks I run at don't adhere to many ROAR rules, they make their own classes. At CRC the only rule they really have placed on the 4x4's is that they must run SC tires (no 1/8 conversions), 2s lipo max, SC body, and no 1/8 motors.

Now it looks like that the 2-pole thing is only for 550's not the Castle's(540's). Is the 3800/1410 considered a 540?

The 1410 is supposed to be a 540 size motor so I guess it's safe for now, nut this rule is still a step in the wrong direction

That's fine with me, let them run their heavy hogs and 1/8 esc's. To bad they only have to survive 6 minutes or those hard case approved lipos would be cracking open.

I run a ROAR approved hardcase, I get great runtimes, cool temps, and they aren't cracking open. But I only run those batteries in 1/10 scale stuff.
When it comes to safety ROAR does have some pull. I don't think all lipos need to be hardcase though and neither does the 1/8 track I race at.

My Gens Ace are ROAR approved as well, and they hold up to the 1:10th stuff.
That includes 4x4 SCTs.
And seeing that nowadays even Turnigy packs are ROAR legal, I don't think it's that bad any more, since you no longer have to pay 100 bucks for a roar legal pack.

^Actually I got an email the other day from hobbyking linking to a battery that had the ROAR sticker. Not sure if it was turnigy or zippy. Think it was turnigy though.

My point exactly, Novak was on the commitee, that set the original brushless rules. Pretty sure they still are due to this action, especially when Tekin is fixing to release their 4 pole 550 sc. The talk on URC is that the castle motora will not be effetced, however, i read the rules as these are the only motors going to be run

Roar has long since been a Slovak whore. Who do you thing funds all the roar stuff? Not the membership fees. I can tell you from personal experiance in meeting the people who run roar, they don't know Jack and love having their pockets padded to keep the orange stuff out year round instead of just on haloween. Rules are meant to be broken so *#ŁĄ roar and go cc!

There is a good discussion on the above car action link, Steve pond even chimed in and said the rules are for only the 550 motors and 540 4 poles are still allowed

Don't you also run a 540 4-pole in your 4x4? Not really the 550 2-poles I was referring to.
