I have some questions

-Can people use this system without the a iphone/apple product(or any smart phone)? If they don`t want to use the telemetry feature?

-Can I use the castle link to unlock ""Unlock the 100+mph speed only with the Traxxas Link App"?

-Will thier be other apps for other brands of smart phones or is that up to Traxxas?

Yes, it works without the telemetry system.

Nope -- the lock/unlock is controlled entirely by the Traxxas app (this is for liability reasons...)

I don't know -- that's entirely up to Traxxas.

OK, I'm confused. Does this mean the 100mph mark is unattainable in stock form unless you have an iPhone/iTouch?

I like this car too. Looks sharp, simple, and easy to work on. Although, the first mod I'd do is move everything over to the motor side and put a single battery on the other side. I really hate dual packs these days...

I don't think the Iphone/IPod is required for the lock/unlock interface. But a PC is required.

Nope, I'm wrong ... from Traxxas website:

Unlocking 100+mph speed capability requires the Traxxas Link Application (download from the App Store) and an iPhone or iPod touch (sold separately). iPhone and iPod touch are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

Seems like it. I am guessing the MMM has some sort of "training/50%" mode that it is shipped with, as the info on traxxas says that it will do 50+ mph out of the box. Maybe some sort of internal epa in the esc?

Traxxas has made a big step up with their electronics here. I would buy an itouch (used older model as long as it is compatable) just to use with this.

Nope. The speed is locked down by the ESC and RX using a variety of methods. It's not a training mode -- 100% throttle is available out of the box. Just can't change the pinion and go faster without an unlock.
