The thing about it is, I seen Bondo build a really nice truck using a 1717. He posted a video demonstrating it's power.

I do believe the 1717 is an awesome powerhouse, from what I seen.
I've got a 1717 mounted in my savage with an rcm center diff mount

oh really?

How does it run Harold?

I've had a 1717 sitting on my shelf for a long time. Brand new, never mounted.

I'm really itching to try it out.

Everything I've seen points toward it being a pretty good powerhouse.

I hear ya, I have 3 sitting there waiting to be used as well.

But, you may want to reconsider something else other than the Mamba XL. I purchased 3 brand new to run a Neu 1527 motor and she puffed up on plug in. So, I had sent all three to Castle (two of which had never been used). Maybe you may have better luck with the new revision...

I would definitely recommend the RCM CD as well. Stock tranny suck Ballz, even with the upgraded metal gears, bearings, metal case. The CD is much better, as you would have less play.

The new revision is supposed to have those issues taken care of.

I'm still waiting on some feedback.

Castle fixed the damaged Mamba XL and upgraded the other 2 free.

Should these tires be taped? IF so, what kind of tape?

I was thinking about that Black Gorilla Tape. Extra Sticky and Strong.

2 full wraps?

Even on 4s it tosses my full aluminum stretched and widened savage around like nothing. Way over powered, able to do anything you would ever want a monster truck to do. 5 and 6s are just stupid.

My savage: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...esavage+thread

2 wraps of the tape should work.

On a side note, my emaxx I pictured now has a mamba xl and I run a neu 1521 on 8s. At 30mph I punched it and did a complete backflip and kept on going

My emaxx: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...ight=cybermaxx

Nice threads!

I see you like the Beadlocks too. This is the first set that I've owned, but the thought of no glue is appealing to me.

Nice Emaxx you have there too. Sounds like power overkill in the 1717 and the 1521.

Here's a thought for you............

I have a collection of motors, both inrunner and outrunner type.

In my collection are several Medusa motors. Remember them?

How about a Medusa 3660 1500kv motor on 8S? Makes me wonder.

Medusas are good motors. I was really disappointed when they chose to stop manufacturing for the r/c world.

I imagine geared for about 40 that motor would work great on 8s. It does lack the mass of a 1717 or similar, and wouldn't be as "over the top" but it would definitely be a good setup. Most were using the 70 and 80mm versions on monster trucks.

Who knows till you try The temp gun will tell the tale

Medusa's are good motors.

I was running one of my Medusa 3660 1500kv motors in a E Revo and it kept snapping the driveshafts.

Here is the thread on it. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15934

ALOT of really good torque, even on 4S. Geared properly, it would be fun on HV.

I just read the thread. I definitely think it's time you try that motor on 8s!

When you said driveshafts I thought you were breaking real parts, not trx sliders
