I've had 5-6 Blue Birds, and so far all have died except for the 2 I am using right now. I know that at least one of the failures was due to 16v going through it, and another one may have been damaged in the same way. My current two have lasted a pretty long time.

When one does die, I have figured that I can just buy the version of it with plastic gears, and then take the metal gears from the dead servo and replace the plastic gears with them! It saves at least $6 from the price of a new metal gear servo.
