I have no idea - 07.13.2006, 07:40 PM

Hello, I'm thinking of brushless and was looking at the HV-Maxx set-up for my basically stock E-Maxx. However, I'm also considering lipos, which lowers my voltage to 7.4v per pack rather than 8.4v per pack. I still want to top 40mph comfortably (as I have a friend with a Revo 2.5 who I HAVE to beat!) and be able to bash with a good run time. I don't race.

So, what's a motor/ESC combo I should be looking at without going too wild? I reckon on spending not too much more than the HV-Maxx, so would I be OK getting that, or can I spend a little more and get more wallop? And I also would like good low-speed control for just pottering around the back garden sometimes.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Go with the warrior 9920 and the 8xl - 6s lipo will get you - what revo - that little thing way behind you - and if you want to putter around - go 4s lipo - and have a blast - thats one of the combos that i would suggest - others will also give you good suggestions as well... Good luck and welcome to the forums...

Hows that "Hope and Change" working out for Ya???

The thing about that setup is, the Quark is as much as a Novak. I would recommend a 9XL for 4S usually, and 5S if you want some speed. If you REALLY want speed, then 6S. 6S would be kinda hot for a 8XL.

What are the different naming conventions for motors and speed controllers? Which manufacturer is a good one? There seems an overwhelming choice at RC Monster. And I guess I'd need a separate power source for the radio gear?

It basically depends on what you want to spend...

I wanted to spend maybe a bit more than an HV-Maxx so maybe $350 or so. I must admit, the HV looks tempting, it's an all-in-one solution, I just want to explore more powerful options before plonking down any cash.

I would recommend something like a Quark 125 and Feigao C XL motor. Which one depends on cell count of course.
