Another option is a Hyper 7 or Kyosho 1/8 buggy diff for use with the Kyosho plastic spur gears (44t and 46t) that Mike sells. They use the more common 8x16mm bearings, whereas the Ofna MBX diff uses 7x14mm bearings (or something like that). I have a Hyper 8 diff/Kyosho 46t spur in my BL/Lipo 1/8 buggy right now, and it's doing fine so far.

Can you probably gear a truggy with only a 44 or 46 tooth spur?

I always thought truggys use a larger spur then the buggys.

would it be bad to run a steel spur?

Yes, you can gear one properly, but it would be alot easier with something like the LSP diffs. The Lightning Stadium comes with 4.3 to 1 ratio diffs instead of 3.31 like buggys and alot of truggies. Alot of the earlier truggies did indeed use a 60+ tooth spur. I wouldn't recommend a steel spur. The steel spur would require hardened pinions and there quite expensive and aren't the best way to go. Plastic spur is definately the way to go...
