Actually, The MM controller is fairly water resistant. Shawn Palmer (CC Spokesman), mentioned something about water resistants in a thread @rczone page 1 post 21.

Here is what he said:
"The circuitry is silicone conformal coated just like the Mamba 25's. Legally we can't say "waterproof", but the Mamba 25 was video tested by a forum user a while back while fully submerged without any problems whatsoever. The same process is done to the Max. From my own testing and driving (poorly) I've never had an ESC have issues with puddles or snow. Receivers however are a different story.... we've soaked, splashed and submerged more than our share and most of them never "come back to life". The Max and 25 ESC's in those same vehicles were always A-OK."
