I won't be racing. I work on race days :035: :012: . The most important thing to me is run time. My goal is 30 min. runs with 40 mph speeds. I don't need anything faster. But it would be nice. I want a set up that will be trouble free. I won't have to worry about heat or anything. I would like to avoid Lipos. What do you guys think? I have read a lot of forums. And they are all aimed towards speed. Some were only getting 10 min. runs. Granted they were flying but I will be playing with it in the back yard or local skate park when I have free time. I just don’t have the time for nitro and my neighbors don’t like all the noise.

If you want long runtimes, then a lower kv motor is probably a better choice. Lower kv means more turns (windings) which means less current and better runtimes. They generally have more torque so you can gear up (within reason) if you need to go faster. And yes, lipos would be a wise choice - they are lighter so there is less dead weight for the motor to pull around than NiMHs. At an estimate; with 6,000mAh lipos, you should be able get about 30 minutes, 8,000mAh to be safe.

An 8000mah Lipo sounds ok. What voltage? What motor would give me what I want? I really want to use the Quark Monster. I like its features. I don't want to have any problems. If I have to spend a little more to get a better product then I will. I also know nothing about buying Lipos or maintaining them. But I will ask those questions another time. I don't want to loose focus. So............ 8000mah....... Quark Monster........ Now, motor and gearing.

Well, if you're going with the Quark, I'd say go no higher than 5s. It is supposed to do 6s, but some have had problems with that voltage. 5s doesn't lend it self for even weight distribution though, which is why most buggy people go with even numbered packs, unless you plan on having the batteries on one side.

Gearing: I'm assuming you're using the stock 46T spur? Most go with 14T to 16T (and maybe a little higher, depending on the motor).

Motor: A Neu 1515 2.5d would be good on 5s for about 40mph. A Neu 1515 1y would work on 4s to maintain the 40mph range.

To get an idea of what different gearing, voltage, and motor combos can do, try out this speed calculator.
