sorry dude...what's POS?

also, thanks for your offer...but i'm really not sure what i need or dont need......so i have to clarify some things. hope you dun mind answering some nitro newbie Qs.

the entire tranny includes? the spur/slipper gear and the brakes?

the optidrive is the sensor in the tranny? or is it the special revo receiver? (or will it work with any regular receiver?)

the "forward only" is a hopup? is it made by traxxas too?

ok, maybe if i tell you what i wanna do that would help.

i want to nitro-rize an ep truck.???? why? haha dun ask....hahahaha

it would be great if i could shift into reverse as well but if its gonna take loads of extra parts & electronics then i'd rather leave it "forward only"

which brings me to the last point.....can i go forward only without having to put in a "forward only conversion" or is there a danger of the tranny accidentally jumping into reverse and destroying the gears inside????

oh another Q, is it a 2 speed? meaning 2 forward speeds? or one forward and one reverse?? hope the Qs weren't too silly....

TIA.

POS - Piece of $*^# (crap)

I shouldnt blame it on the opti drive. I was a nitro newbie, and couldnt get my motor tuned right before I got the forward only.

In my case, yes.

The optidrive is a sensor that attaches to the tranny, and there is a module that is intrageted with the shift servo, and reciever.

Yes - its a Traxxas sold product, it eliminates the reverse gears inside the transmission, reducing rotational mass, and with it, you could change the ratio in the tranny.

The tranny is an auto shifting two speed. I beleive you can run it without the optidrive system by locking the fwd/revse servo.

I prefer to have reverse also, since my driving skills arent as good as most.

To add to JThiessen's post: You don't need the Optidrive for reverse. It just makes sure that the truck is stopped before it will allow you to shift into reverse. If you take it out, just make sure you don't shift into reverse while moving, either purposely or accidentally.

If you don't need two speeds (which most BL systems don't need), you can lock the tranny in second gear. This will give you reverse and motor brake. This eliminates the brake servo and associated parts, which reduces weight.

TBH: The stock reverse mechanism is very weak. Many people have stripped it, even when using relatively low-torque Nitro.

I agree with you Brian, but it sounds like he is using it as a nitro tranny, not brushless.

Oh. Well I guess you don't need to lock the tranny then.

hey guys, got a few more Qs for you(may sound silly)..hope you can help.

when the shifting shaft is pushed into the tranny, is that "forward" or "reverse"? need to confirm this before i start fabricating the tranny mount, (might be fabbed the wrong way round without knowing it and have my project run backwards :005: )

thanks for the help guys!
