I am running the 6800 in my rc18T with 13/55 gearing and 6 cell battery and everthing stays cool, no fans or heat sinks. 55t spur is the stock gear for the 18T and the smallest pinion gear that comes with them are 12t.

That is odd. Mine came with 60/10. I wonder if they changed this at some point in time for a particular reason.
Anyway, I just bought a 9200kv Dynamite C4/Quark 33a/3s LiPo for mine. I will be using this gearing at first (66/10), then if everything is in check, I will upgrade to a 12t then a 14 that I also have and see what happens with that. Unfortunatelly I have everything except the Quark, it won't be in till the 22nd of December according to my LHS. I'll keep you posted.

I beleave that the 60T spur gear is stock for the 18MT, because of the larger tires. 55T for the 18T and 18B. But I could be wrong. There are also 2 spur gear covers for under the chassis, one is labeled T for the 55T spur and MT for the 60T spur.
3s with the 8k motor should be fine especially if you will only be running on pavement.
I have mine setup with the rx in fron in the motor and the esc on top of the chassis brace.

That is how I have mine set up too. Works great! Just need a Lipo now and I'm set. I also think I need to re program to a softer brake...:027:
