I'm sure lipos are a little difficult since they dump kinda quick, but NiMHs have a slightly slower dump curve. I can tell when my Revo only has about 30-60 sec left by the loss in punch.

If you wanted to know exactly when it will dump, you'd just need something that will measure the current of the battery (like the Eagletree), calculate Ah and then tell you when you reach 85% if the battery capacity.
