It is a clod buster. The front and rear axles are completely separate, each having it's own motor and esc. So he controls the thottles seperately (DX6 I think) as well, allowing the 'dig' action that you saw. That is the super class winner at the Nationals last year, Jason Carter.

In this picture you can see the stick chassis and get an idea of how it is set up.

Yeah, having dual throttles makes more sense than a center diff judging by how it was acting. Having dual ESC must make it much easier to climb without flipping over as much, but must be a pain to control! I have a hard enough time with one throttle! :)

I'm getting into crawling too. Opposed to off-road tracks, we have rocks in abundance here :)
