If it isn't connected to the motor, you'll never hear any beaps.
Probably they mean that the controller is not compatiple with 12 cells while you are using the esc's bec. Use a receiver pack and check it out.

it's connected in the e-maxx, no beeps, i do have a switched reciever pack, but the esc's on/off switch does nothing and confuses me, can i cut it off so I don't think about it? still curious if i can run with no current limit, thanks!
