ETA on a forum is 14th but doesn't really mean nothing as there is nothing officially mentioned on their website

Well, how much more official can you get than by reading the words of the president of Castle on this forum?

If he can't give you a firm absolute date, then NOBODY can.

So when you ask: "Why can't they give a date", it's simply because they CAN'T.

ETA and Pricing - 04.11.2008, 08:40 AM

Well guys, this is what it looks like so far:

The Mamba Monster was not originally scheduled in April production, so we currently working the production of the Monster circuit boards into the schedule.

We are still waiting on cases from our plastics supplier (we only got a few cases (5 pcs) in for fit testing so far, those were approved and 2500 cases for our first production run were ordered.)

We are still waiting on final release of the "Quick Reference Guide." -- This is needed for specific information on the Monster that isn't covered in the "Drivers Ed" manual.

We are still waiting on stickers for the case. (Design for the stickers was late in completion -- they were ordered on April 3rd.)

Note that the ESC "only" version will have wires with bullets, and not just the SMT bullets like on the show version -- we decided that would be easier for the end-user as some motors come with pretty short wires.

So -- It is looking like we should be shipping before the end of April -- my personal target date is 25 April for first batch, but we still need a few things (like cases) to be delivered from suppliers.

Thanks!

Patrick

Oh, and BTW: Pricing will be $199.95 (list) and 170.95 (map) We don't believe in the same kind of stupid list and map pricing that other manufacturers use, like a $500.00 list with $150.00 map -- that just doesn't make sense.

Any chance the first batch will go to those of us on the "waiting to get notice from Joe Ford" e-mail list? I'm not super hot on getting mine but since I don't know the delay on the "package" combo I may need to pick up a donor motor and the ESC first... Will castle be offering the "neu style CC motors" along with the authentic Neu line? or only as an add on to the MMM package?

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

We will be offering a pre-sale special at MAP pricing for those of you who would like to get a MMM before the big distributors...

Keep watching the website, we will probably only give a single week for the special.

The "Castle Neu" motors will be build in Castle's Chinese facility, under license from Steve Neu, and we are currently waiting on magnets to arrive from our magnet supplier in China to build the final prototypes and get the production line started. The "Authentic Neu" motors are built in Steve Neu's facility in San Diego. The differences between the motors were mostly to make the CC motor better suited for RC car use -- the "Authentic" Neu motors were designed for airplane and heli use originally, which calls for lightest possible weight.

#1: Authentic Neu motors have carbon fiber wound rotors, the Castle Neu motors will not have a carbon wound rotor. (We tried, but Carbon Fiber is so rare right now we just couldn't procure enough carbon for production... but we have found in testing that the carbon wound rotors aren't significantly stronger, they just protect the stator better when the rotor fails, so we decided to move forward without a carbon wound rotor.)
#2: Castle Neu motors have a completely different case, which is better suited to RC car use (better seals on front and rear bearings, more heat sink area, heavier and stiffer construction.)
#3: Castle Neu motors have larger front bearings to handle RC car loads better than the Neu motors
#4: Castle Neu motors have high flex 10ga silicone wires exiting the case, instead of winding wires (better suited to very high vibration environments.)

Thanx!

Patrick

You Rock!

Quick question though...will you have specific instructions on how to avoid certain death from our spouses upon purchase of multiple ESC's?

So on the CC website, if you click build it next to the selected motor, that will be this version but if you want the original heli version you select the heli version in the tick box?

I don't believe that's the case. The motors you can order from them currently are Neu motors. Castle is now the US distributor for Neu Motors. The Heli version of a Neu motor has a special can style:
http://www.neumotors.com/20061222/HeliMotors.html

I'm sure they will do plenty to distinguish between their "Castle Neu" motors and the original Neu motors once they actually have their "Castle Neu" motors available.
