Well, I put the 20 tooth pinion on there. It was slower and has less wheelies but the temps after 8 mins was 100 on the lipos, 124 on the motor, and the mmm's fan never cut on. It was 45*F out. I will run it longer tommarrow, I got rained out today :( !

If it runs cooler and OK with the lower gearing but you want your wheelies back just up your start power and turn off punch control.

I am hoping to play on a friends racetrack tommarrow. So I will try this new gearing to see how it goes! I think when I go to play on the sand dunes I might up my starting power and turn off the punch control as the dunes eat alot of power!

Hope temps will be ok on the track.

If your temps dropped that much then you can prolly gear back up a little. Spurs are cheaper! If your running 20/62 now try 20/58-56-54 and check temps. Spurs are only about $3.50 so you could buy all those for less than a 21t pinion.

I am going to be at my friends track at 4:00 today. I am going to run it with the 20/62 and see how she does. If it goes well I have a 58tooth spur so I will try that. The real test will be this summer ( 100+ outside) out on the sand dunes!

Out on the dunes you can gear it to the moon, its all wide open throttle out there (at least the dunes near me) and it tends to get plenty of airflow.

temps on the track was good. The system was overpowered for the track and the poor hellfire didnt know what hit it!(I could out run it on any part of the track but b/c I was not familiar with his track I wasnt consistant)
As for the dunes, mine are high and steep. Not a whole lot of high speed runs just really high jumps!!!
I did get to go out to the dunes today at lunch . Well 18 to 20mins on the dunes had the motor back to 170 and the mmms fan was on almost the whole time. The fan cut on in about 3 mins and the motor was at 101. The batteries topped out at 117. It was 65 out.

Well that would do it. Judging by what has been posted, I'm sure that if you geared lower, your temps would be lower.

Yeah but if I wanted mid 30s (geared for 38mph right now) I would of bought a novak months ago and saved me the wait! I am surprised that I cant run 40mph without alot of heat. Oh well it is a great running system! I might have to cut holes in the body or put a fan on it this summer.

That is still pretty odd. I am geared 24/65 with a Tekno Neu 1y and I haven't seen over 140F on the motor. Granted the Tekno Neu is different than the CC Neu, but I wouldn't think they'd be that different.

Sand dunes will put a lot of load on your power system and heat everything up. Sand is soft and creates lots of resistance for the front tires to push through and the back tires will be spinning alot. In the sand you will have to gear down, just the same as running in grass. If I was to run in the grass for an entire pack my setup would be a lot hotter.

Hmmm, it might be looking like 6S on this motor might be the way to go if you are looking for speeds over 40mph. You can gear wayyyyy down and the temps should be much lower at the same speed.
