Lehner sent me a brand new 2280 when mine fried... No cost to me at all, only the shipping of the damaged product to them.. Not to jinx you, but what a big weight difference for something that's almost the same size as the 2280... I love lehners Hi-Amp motors.. Hopefully you'll get your money's worth from that Typhoon.. :)

Thanks, what was the application of your 2280? When calculating the actual volumes the weight difference is feasible - I hope to have some good data to evaluate the actual performance - if the typhoon delivers what the claim I think it is a bargain..

In the past I had a 2280 in an E-Maxx on 36-40 cells(NiMh back then), with a 40.160WK...
I had a 2280 in a GST 7.7 as well...
2280 was also used on a 1/5th firehammer MT..

2280 was just too much for the 1/10 & 1/8 monster trucks... Everything kept on breaking... for a 1/5th scale, it worked great... The Hi-Amp versions are work getting...

Btw, I sent the Lehner for repair yesterday. With some good luck I'll have an answer by next week.

Finally - this weekend I had the time to start the switch of motors.

It was more work than expected. I had to move and modify the motor mounts. When trying to get the ESC in place I noticed I had to move the brackets, and I would have to drill some new holes in the CF, but then it would become seriously weakened. I had to do a pair of new ones in Aluminum etc..

The new Lipos needed connectors etc as well, but finally I pulled it together and did the test.

The 4-pole motor is smooth... The balance in the truck is great, it handles really well. But it lacks all the aggression I'm after The power is just too little for having really fun.

No video was shoot, but I managed to get the logg:

The motor was about 48-50degC after the run, the ESC and the Lipos was cold.

I have a pinion with one more teeth. I was driving on dry, packed mud, so I am not sure if it was too slippery or not. My thinking is that the motor very well might be over heated on a more grippy surface. Besides - it's a hell to change the pinion... But it did cross my mind to gear up and see what happens.

Just by considering the kV and V there's a significant difference though: 822kV on 14s vs 780kV on 12s.

I will make a video, just have to team up with a friend for the drive as my daughters do not find it amusing at all.

He He, thats one way..

I did however manage to get out this evening, after the "family dinner". It was already getting dark and I was alone as usual at these times.

I did a 10 minute run this time, mostly full throttle - and I filmed most of it. My one-hand driving seem to improve!

Anyhow - here's a vid showing the "sliding capabilities".

After the run the ESC was 24 degC, the Lipos 28degC and the motor 48. (Ambient temp was 14)

For an MT style vehicle it looks more like a drifter in that video. Great power and the ESC motor combo seems pretty smooth. Nice configuration. I bet you could put that on a nice strip some place and get some pretty high speeds with a nice body on it. You would probably need some kind of down force to keep it from going airborn. Looks like a fun truck. What is your total weight with everything onboard? It looks to be close to 20lbs.

Hello Jerry,

The truck weights in at 16lbs, 7,3kgs with the typhoon, 12s turnigy and tripple belted truggy tires. I'm not sure how much the Lehner with liquid cooling will add.
