Trust me, once you have a lehner motor in your hands, it's sweeter than sweet. Besides its ugly sticker and ditto purple end bell, it's simple a precision produced tool..

The Lehner that I was interested in was the 1940/7, but it has a 4mm shaft. If I got with a Lehner, it might have to be a 1950, just because of the shaft diameter.

What's wrong with the 4mm shaft? Is it pinion availability? If so, RC-Monster has 4mm pinions.

mike can make you an adapter so any 5mm pinion will fit the 4mm shaft. I have one he made. It works great. Used it to figure out the gearing I want with my 5mm pinions. Then ordered the correct 4mm pinion. But you could just use the adapter permanently if you wanted to.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
