What suits the 1930/5 turn motor?

Hi. Need some help finding the best controller to go with my 1930/5 motor( I bought it 6 months ago) which I will be using it in my B4 buggy at 16.8 volts with 10.8:1 FDR. I think the 9920 is very good, but a more powerful controller would do the job even better. I know that 14 cells is quite an overkill to the car and the motor, but I'm looking for speed records and I've been dreaming of hitting the 80s( in miles, that is). If I was able to get myself a 4 cells lithium pack with 10000 mah capacity from Thunder Power, then the job would've been pretty easy to feed the motor with hi amperage rate, but lithium costs money and I dont have enough to get them. So any suggestions? Just focus on the controller for now.:) thanks beforhand.

Well, the 12020 warrior would be the next step up. If you aren't thermalling the warrior you have, you won't notice any difference in performace by switching controllers, though.

I want to understand something, if the motor sucks up a 150amps surge and the controller is able to pull 110-120 amps surge will that cause any trouble? BTW, the 12020 is not available. Are you planning to bring in some more?

If a motor pulls the amps, and there is no current limiter, then either the controller will provide the amps (and get HOT), or it blows. Usually it just supplies the amps and gets hot, then if it has temperature protection that kicks in.

I have 20/120 and 20150 controllers ordered. Just am,atter of them arriving. The latest news is that the controllers are still a couple weeks away(today I spoke w/BK). The board mfg was on holiday for 4 weeks, so they were unable to get the needed supplies! The Micro series controllers are a bit more expensive, but also have lower resistance and more programming options. Not that you would notice this a great deal in your application, though.
The 99 amp controller can handle surges up around 140 amps for short term (10 seconds). Power in = power out. The amp rating on the controller won't determine the amount of power that goes to the wheels. This is just what it is rated to handle. Cells, gearing etc. are the factors that determine speed/power.

The B4 is definately the car to do it it! I have access to a Lehner 2800xl and a BK9020 and I do have a B4...I might have to try to set a speed record of my own!

Hey camel you could take it out to the salt flats. Blast it down through there on time. I think the record is 110mph. I believe. Set it with a brushed motor. We can't have that. Brushless rules. :)

I have had one in the 50s. It gets hard to drive. I like to try to get mine back up around 60 now. I stretched it out some and man does it handle great. I love speed and power. No matter if it is car or rc. I love it. I been 140 mph in a car. What a rush. Have you ever seen the 200mph lether cars run. They may be on cables but man they fast.
