Has anyone converted a hotbodies lightning stadium pro???? -
04.25.2010, 10:53 AM
Hello everyone! I was thinking of converting my Lightning stadium pro. It is in excellent shape. Have not Run it in over 2 years. I love converting nitro into brushless. The vehicle is very light. What I like is that it has 3 disc brake set up front and rear. I would like to keep the mechanical brake on this set up. i was thinking of modding Savage flux battery boxes on the sides. I'm a basher not a racer. Any advice or opinions would be Great.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

The top truck which I still have, is geared for 41mph. I only bash w/it, and a fine basher it is !
The other one I sold was set up for the track and it worked very well but I feel that the LSP isn't as refined as the newer truggys. It doesn't seem to steer and handle as well, maybe in the hands of a lesser driver it wouldn't be as noticable but to me it was.

LSP's are old school - I remember Serum did a sweet one way back. You should do a search on it. It was a huge inspiration for me

Yeah many people have, it was one of the most popular conversions a couple of years ago I think mike has all the parts you would need in the RC monster store here.
I converted it's twin the lightning buggy myself, although you might not recognise it now.

Enough of that, heres a link for you.
there were loads of threads for it but some were lost when the server crashed and some need there pictures updating, serum had a good on and I think squee forever had a good one to, maybe they will post here,
Hot Bodies Lightning 2 Pro carbon, Mega 22/30/2, MMM, 4s3-5Ah.
Tamiya F201 carbon, Mamba 7700, MM, 2s A123 2.3ah.
Xray XT8, 1518, MMM, 4s5Ah.
Lots of boats.

Reason: Too long searching through links to find one that still had an active picture and 2 people beat me to it with better pics too

Nice Squee! I never did the LSP, but I did the 1/10 version a LONG time ago - here's what it looked like:
Sorry to be off topic - it's just nostalgic

Thanks for all the response!! Everything will be old school. The losi 2.0 will be old school in 3 years. Hey squee, I love the side battery boxes. What were they from? What about the cage? Where is that from? What does it look like now? I have a maxamps 6 cell 5000max lipo I would like to use for this conversion. The castle creations mamba 2200kv is too high right? I would need what a 1700 or under?

Its ALL carbon fiber. The chassis, and the cage. Its a Bombproof Products LSP kit. If I remember right they only made about 20 of them and they were right at $500 just for the chassis setup, then you had the buy the LSP itself. They only made a couple in carbon fiber. I've never seen another as a matter of fact.

Now its got 8mm axles, buggy 22* knuckles and upper arms, stainless and purple hardware, Dace CRT 23mm hubs, shock socks, aluminum shock ends, yellow high downforce wing, doubled up purple ackermans off a buggy, etc. Thats all I can think of right now, but I'm thinking of changing the shocks up to something adjustable, putting the purple aluminum shock towers on it off a buggy (with the way the center brace is I think I'll have to go with rear shock towers front and rear), 17mm purple hubs, and I've been thinking of going with the newer D8T suspension, along with a redesigned motor mount (and going with a 1717 ) that'll put it in the center, and getting Mike to make me some new battery trays, maybe in aluminum .
Oh, and I went with the buggy front bumper and no rear bumper, put the sway bar back on the rear, and a dark red metallic CRT body with a Upgrade RC graphics kit. I think thats about all the stuff I've done to it.
