What can you afford budget wise? I run a 160.24 and a 160.24 for backup and then just last weekend I bought a 160.24 to back those up! And if those all fail I'll use one of my mgm 224.18 controls.

First off thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction, looks like a damn fine ESC.

If not, than could look at R1 Pro
Considered doing this but I'm not sure that the built in BEC is the only issue I could face if I see a failure. My truck isn't a race truck so I may just run a acc. battery pack anyway to be safer, thanks for the tip though.

I am only running 4s now but would like to go up a bit which is why I got the MMM as opposed to the MM. Ya know how these things go 4s is good now but 6s will be better in the future and so on.

So I guess you like the 160.24 huh? If I had that ESC I would be using the MMM as the back-up maybe. Well that model may be a bit out of my budget but the 160.18 is looking like a potential winner, what do you think?

Thanks again to all,

Darion

David just because mgm esc's are to expensive for you doesnt mean you should hate them or tell everyone they are crap. The smartest most level headed guy on these forums is a man named mike cronin call him and ask him what his top pick for a controller is. Ask him what he runs...research bro.

This is not to expensive for me man, i've buy 3 of them in the last year, and on this 3, two of them died, and the other one, i can't tell it i've sale it when it was brand new.
I've about 6 years of experience in r/c electric truck, and i'am 100% sure that is not my setup the problem.
So the pro's guys like you says can run MGM, but this is not the reason that make me buy another one.
When a MMM died it's $169.00, and when a MGM died it's twice the price.
So you don't need 30 years of r/c experience to understand this!!!

If you have lot of $$$ to spend, so go, buy MGM, but for me and the majority of guys here, we don't want to take the chance to spend $300.00 for a controller who can died at any time.

And if 95% of the guys here ran MGM controller, believe me that the number of post like "My MGM died" will be more present here.

Your only viable options to run 6s with car braking and reverse is the MMM and MGM at this point. Others are supposedly be worked on but at this point it's a crap shoot. The tekin R1MT/RX8 hasn't even had an update in the last few months of it's status and nothing is found on tekin's site about it. The losi is only 5s and not even released yet. Novak says they have one in the works but it took them 3 years just to add an LVC to the HV so........

Ok you win, mgm is crap. Just kidding. David when you killed your 160.18's what set up were you running? What truck? How heavy was it (weight wise) what motor and battery did you use? How were you geared? How do you drive?

Kind of a sad state of things when this looks like one of two best options for me, MGM the other, and all the kinks arn't worked out yet. Don't get me wrong here, feature for feature and value wise I love the MMM and I am sure when it all gets worked out it will be one great ESC but at the moment there seems to be alittle ways to go. Did a search on MGM and it would seem they have their fair share of issues also. To be fair to both however, most people that have issues are the ones that post, thats normal I would say, so how big an issue I really don't know?

One thing I think I have learned, it would seem that motors and batteries are well ahead of ESC's at least for the application I am looking at.

Thanks for all the replies,

Darion
