Truggies turn slightly quicker laps than buggies, making them the fastest. Their large tires and large footprints give them a distinct advantage.

No way does a nitro engine have more power than a BL race setup. They might produce 2 HP at 30'000 RPM, which is about 1500 W. A Neu 1512 puts out 2000 W for 30 sec and 1000 W continuous, which is more than any 3.5 ccm race engine.

I know a track where they ran 1/10 electric nationals, 1/8 buggy nationals and unofficial 1/8 truggy nationals, plus there was an electric 1/8 buggy at a club race. When the track is freshly flattened, 1/10 run the fastest laps. With some wear and bumps, 1/8 buggies are faster than 1/10 and the 1/8 truggies are the fastest. The electric 1/8 buggy was faster than his nitro counterparts, with a slightly less experienced driver, but only until his battery dumped at 18 minutes.
