I just order them as they break. I have 2 trannys. One in the truck, and one rebuilt at all times. When one fails, i drop the rebuilt tranny into the truck and rebuild the broken one.

Its the only way to reduce down time...

You can see why my transmission keeps on failing. Just cant handle all the torque i can make use of. My diffs look perfect still, and my dog bones and all shafts are holding up very well without much sign of premature wear. My axles are showing a little wear but they are fine for a while still.

I cant wait to see what its like on 9s once i got the CD in!

9S with the 1520 ^^ Have you already a good esc for that ? Without any limitations on 9S this thing will be total overkill :D

The reason u keep going through tranny gears is because the stock gear that wears out is not hardened steel. You need to get the hd gear. It is hardened and will last as long as the truck. I've put about 30 runs through mine and the gear looks brand new still.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

I've been running the 1520 in my LST XXL for a few weeks now on 6s. Geared for 45mph, I ran 2 packs through it yesterday back to back and at the end of the second battery, my motor temp was 117 degrees. Temp was 24 degrees (Celsius) up here in Canada. The truck can handle the power very nice, however my diff output cups are starting to notch out where the dogbones hit. I'm thinking about picking up some of Mike's Hardened diff cups (I think I saw some?).

I love this motor. It makes me smile. I couldn't imagine this motor in a Savage though, what a waste

Yeah, I was baffled. I had a 2200 in there previously and knew that the lower KV geared would be more efficient/cooler, however I was afraid because I geared for a higher mph with the 1520... that the motor temps would be up in the high 150's (I understand that 175 is pretty much max?).

I will post setup/pics tomorrow. I'm just in the middle of cleaning the truck up from a good day yesterday :)

no i am waiting for the ice hv esc for trucks to come out... I hope it comes out soon! But thats my plan! The motor could handle up to 10s so 9s for speed runs should be fun :)

And your temps ? Today for me after one 6S 4000mAh of bashing 122°F, but on the rear plate. The front of the motor was at 104°F, my truggy is geared for ~45mph Ambient was 75, but the weather wasn't sunny. My truggy weights in fact 10.8lbs. I am waiting two for the HV car ESC, wanna try maybe 8S combined with low gearing to increase a litte the speed and decrease even more temp.

castle told me that the motor was good as long as you kept it below 200!!! but i will stick to max 180!

@scarlett.... i have used the HD gears 2 times now and both sets have stripped on me in around 12 runs or so! Its cheaper to use stock ones and change them every 6-10 runs and they have better contact surface area. Just works out better for me till i do the CD conversion.

@rolr... get some pics up of this xxl lst... Im sure my savage would love to run all over it your geared for 45 im geared for 53mph lol jk.

But seriously what is your lst weighing in at? just want to compare how these trucks weigh compared to their gearing etc... and what temps they are producing.

The motor is in the purp MBX5T truggy ;) You can see some air at the end, and how easy the motor works to push it in 3-4meters altough the high punch control at 70% !
