Not quite accurate. The screw is subjected to mostly tensile load as it pulls the motor against the mount - friction between the face of the motor and the motor mount does most of the work of keeping everything in place. This tensile force would need to be overcome in order for the motor to move off the mount on the top or bottom side(the screw isn't at the edge of the motor, so the 'pivot point' statement is not valid - the edge of the motor can is the only possible pivot point) As a side note - in your example, much of the force would also be in the downward direction(or upwards if the car was right-side-up) - in this instance, both screws would share the shear load, though the lower screw doesn't offer any tension towards the mount. Even without the top screw installed at all, the lower bushing will hold the motor in place (at rest of course).

While I understand and appreciate the concerns(which is why I explained it in the 1st place), I am confident that this system will work perfectly and will not be a point of failure. :)

Yes, this could certainly be done if one was concerned. I think the concerns will be proven invalid, but this option is of course available at the cost of adjustment convenience(in reality, how often do you set gear mesh to begin with?).

Mine weighed 6 lbs 13oz RTR with a 4s, 4000mah Hyperion battery(no body). I did not weigh it with the body. I used the 1900Kv Tekin buggy combo on my truck, so it is basically identical to Brian's. :)

Seeing as you're so quick and helpful in answering our questions... When can I buy the kit :)

These will be available soon after I return from RCX. I got started on them, but won't finish all the pieces(spur especially) until I return at the end of the month.
I had initially planned Slipperential compatibility, but it would have required custom out drives and a custom front cd bulk, among other things(losi diff is shorter from bearing to bearing, but has very long out drives and smaller diameter shaft ends). If I do one for myself, I will make it available for everyone else. :)

Cool, I understand now- quite clever really. I think people's concerns come from convential mounting methods & paranoia really- quite different to the usual 2 screw method that we've all come to know and love on the emaxx and such. Im looking forward to seeing how durable this truck turns out to be in the long-ish run, might be a suitable platfrom for my purpose built basher plans ( next winter project I guess ).

Video will have to wait until the ground un-muddifies. But really, what is the purpose of a video? After all, it's basically like the rest of Mike's conversions. Anyway, I will get a vid at some point. It's just with all the snow melt and rain the last week or so, the ground is a sodden mess. I took my XT8 out last weekend and it got so muddy, that it was easier to simply hose it down than to try to clean it any other way.

So, would a mmp with a castle cm36 series motor work on this project.Just asking because i have a 9000,and 6900kv staring at me.

This truck has about the same loading characteristics as an 1/8 scale buggy. So, those Castle motors are much too small. However, the MMPro ESC should be fine if matched with a low kv (~1400kv) buggy-size motor (1512 series Neu or Castle, or Tekin equivalent, or as small as a 60mm Medusa) running on 5s or 6s geared for ~35-40mph.

Definitely skip on the CM36 series motors.

If you're looking for the cheaper route, the Feigao XL motors would work great as well.
