Well I had my heart set on the Proline Crowd Pleaser truck body, but I guess a buggy is a buggy. My local shop said I can get panther tires that are very similar to buggy tires but no conversion needed. Hmmm, wider tires than buggy, but with same tread and sidewalls. Good short term fix, but I know if its a specail part now...it won't be in production later.

I think some Panther Komodo's would be best. They are very light and a bit shorter than the stock maxx tires. Pair them with some dish wheels and you got a great wheel setup.

The tires the LHS is speaking of are the panther komodos. I run them on my pede(and they are in stock on this site). They are slightly taller and slightly wider than a 1/8 buggy tire. Excellent for this type of truck to buggy conversion IMO.

After hearing about the Panther LP Komodo Dragon tires....and personally seeing them on an EMAXX at my track, I was well surprized by how much the look and feel like 1/8 buggy. Only exception is, no wheel adaptors, just a lil taller and wider than 1/8 buggy, and the wheels I guess have been banned? in some MT events. As for tossing in my BL system into my EMAXX, I will hold off on that. I hear the diff won't last with too much power.

SO the BL goes back into my TC3. I just installed the NTC3 ATD outdrives, so no more melted plastic diff cups, no more mashed aluminum diff cups...its all steel!!!! Just wished I could find Ti....lighter and stonger. So now that my TC3 is stout for my BL....its back to 60mph on it with out the worries.

Sounds like a fun project.

If you're really trying to make a Maxx "look" like a 1/8 buggy you'll need a buggy body (maybe the XTM XLB 1/7 body would fit better -> http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/149950.asp), OFNA 17mm adapters (http://www.ofna.com/tires-monster.html (scroll down)), 1/8 buggy wheels, and of course the 1/8 buggy spoiler.

I'd get the g-maxx extended chassis (for more 1/8th authenticity) and probably 12-14 cells. NiMH will work but of course LiPo is better (read: lighter). You can probably run a 2800XL w/ taller than stock gearing (1/8 wheels are small and light).

Use a soft spring to keep it low and supple. You'll wanna dump the chassis as low as a 1/8 buggy (they sit low and hit the ground on every bump and jump). W/ the smaller wheels you can make the chassis and arms "level" (should look authentic). Dimensionally it sounds like the wide maxx arms will give you proper width, but perhaps the "narrow" maxx arms would make it "look" a little more authentic. Buggy's have a wide pan and short control arms.

And if you want to run it as a monster truck I'd get the OFNA 17mm 3 splits and Panther Komodo's. You won't have to change the hubs, just leave the OFNA 17's on. Put on a heavier spring (more clearence, like a MT), and throw your truck body back on. Viola! Back to a monster truck.

Works for me.....now I have to figure out my brushless motor controller issues. I rewired my MGM 8012 controller to have upright wires to fit nicely inside my TC3...and it killed the ECS chanel on the reciever with a voltage spike. I redid it again, now it functions but..the motor gets really hot and the shaft squeaks. I am thinking maybe since its pressed endcaps...they are now misalinged. But its work, and the army has me one way and college the other.
