I don't at all mind spending the money for quaulity stuff. It might take longer to finish but I'll be much happier with it when it's done.

looks like fun, do you think 13lbs of thrust will move a 8-10lb car?

Actually, if I went with the 13 lb. thrust option it could lift off vertically.

Think of it like that experiment you may have done in high school physics. Hang two weights over a pully, one 9 lb. weight and one 13 lb. weight.

If the fan can lift it vertically then it will definitely not have trouble moving it horizintally.

thats a good point

i was just thinking about how fighter jets make 10x their weight in thrust but then they also travle much faster than a gtp

how fast shoud it be able to go?

are u planning on putting a screen over the fan to protect it from debris

10.16.08... Must have fallen asleep at the keyboard...

How fast? IDK, the efflux speed is around 200mph I think. Sooo depending on ground friction and aerodynamics I think a reasonable estimate would be 150mph.(?) Assuming it didn't disintegrate beforehand. I dont think I'll be putting a grate over the fan. 1: it's ugly, 2: it adds drag, and 3: I'm not dumb enough to put my fingers anywhere near the fan when the system is turned on.

I think you should make the fans able to tilt downward so you can take the car airborne at 100+.

Technically I haven't built V1 yet. I have had a few different designs, but I have not built any. So this will be V1. The "flying car" will be V2....short for "V 2 much money".
