Yeah, the long 1950 fits just in between the shocks and mount. Close fit, but very very low. Lowest I have ever seen on a Gorilla. And it's centered. I love it.
As for thinking the exact same, many people do. A center diff is a nice thing to have in a racer.

Yeah, it is lighter. It also has a noticeable smoother rolling resistance. I gave those diffs some extra love, and man, this is a smooth driveline. (diffs are alu cases and cups, with modified ringgears, btw) But still, I look forward to the bulkless with 8th scale buggy diffs.
The lower final gear ratio will also give less rolling resistance with the motor connected. Of course this will also mean less torque, but with this kind of motor (and overall weight) this is nothing to worry about.

Thank all of you for the nice comments! I feel blessed to be among you guys, and I really hope I can make it to the Get-Together. Just for fun, here's an older pic with a motor mounted. You might see how easy it will be to make a brace to support the rear of the motor.
