the type of cells are fine.....just watch the # of cells.....keep in mind your running 24 Volts thru the controller........also can the motor handle the rpm.......I think the max RPM it can handle is 80,000 rpm....and with a rpm rating of 1502 per volt.....* 24 V you will be running at a rpm of 36,000 give or take a few.....which is fine for the motor.....just sharing some info with you......LMK how it goes....

I was running 20 gp2200s on a 9920 for a little while and it didn't get too hot,130F after 10 mins without a fan and no ventilation in the body, but i doubt they hold as much voltage under load as good subCs but they're alot smaller and lighter(4/5th subCs).Also it was a 1300kv motor so little milder on 20 cells.

I wouldn't hesitate to run it on 20 cells personally but put a fan on the controller, that's what i would do with a 10xl,it'll bring that motor to life for sure.

heat isn't really the issue with the controllers.......you can allways keep it cool with a fan and good ventilation.....the issue is the voltage spike and or amps that can suddenly go to the controller from the batts.....and it will fry it......like the post I posted earlier...I fried mine on just 12 cells with a amp spike of 123 amps on a 1895 controller......

the same here..for hijacking the thread.....but sometimes I think people get absesed with speed and power and forget about all the little things that can affect the controller ect......speed and power is nice but at what price...a fried controller...

I have ran and still run 20 cells on a 9920 with no problems. The esc does not heat up either. I run it on a 1950 hi amp 8t. Dafni has pulled a 130 thru a 9920 as well. I don't think the 20 cells will hurt. The 10xl has a low amp draw to. So that makes it better and easier on the esc as well.

If I thought you would fry it I wouldn't recommend it.
If you run the 20 cells drop back some on the pinion gear. give you longer run time. I think it will be more than you want but that is the fun part. :027:

newe...I'll cross my all my fingers and toes for you......"this comment is to everyone....." I wasn't trying to "P" anyone off....but I was just letting people know what the risks can be.....sometimes your lucky..sometimes your not.......I got into the Bl scene back when "modeltech" did Bl systems which was a re-packeged hacker motor and a schultz controller......so basicly I think around the year 2000......so I do have some expertise......and I do respect everyone else's expertise also....

It is all cool sj. It is hard to say for sure if that 128 amp was the cause or not. It may have been on its last leg when it shot the 128 thru it. I have been running the 9920 on 20cells for a while now. MONTHS Just remember you can use a tv for years and it blow up at any time.
