Actually, if the mount is fairly generic and easy to mount to a lot of places, maybe there would be a spot here on rc-monster for them? Maybe worth shooting an email to Mike? Just an idea...

Yeah, me too. It looks like it will work well for all ESCs on trucks with only one motor. I've been looking at my empty motor spot for 2 years now wanting to make up an ESC platform, but never did. I think this would be a great addition to RC-Monster's inventory.

Well after work tonight I just ran 2 full charges through it using 8000mah 5s setup and Feigao 9XL. Gearing started at 22/70. It was just about exactly 80 air temps outside. Before I plugged anything up and started running I took a baseline reading on the motor and the Quark. Both right about 84.

Started off running easy, then ripped into it after I saw the temps were so low. Didn't matter, ESC was still under 110.:027: The motor temp were getting a little high at 155 or so. After the first pack I changed the gearing up to 24/70. ESC still stayed nice and cool under 110 and the motor temps came down to 135-140 or so. I probably could have gone even taller on the gearing, but that was all I had with me. Toward the end of the second pack I wanted to see if i could get it hotter so I did about 5 minutes of WOT runs back and forth in the taller grass field. I was able to get a reading at 142 right where the wires are attached to the board of the esc, but the aluminum case was still a cool 112.:dft003:

I can't even believe the difference. Not even a hint of thermaling. Thats just crazy compared with the 140+ readings from the aluminum case I was getting consistently before even with the lower gearing and having to stop to let it cool every 10 minutes.

I'm HAPPY:D This is the way its supposed to run.

When i read that Monster-Mike put a heat sink on his Quark and then couldn't make it thermal on the track, I was a little skeptical cuz I've been fighting heat with it since the start. But I was willing to try it, I was just about to drop $335 on a Lehner 1950 to try and keep the system cooler. Now I don't have to. This runs great.

I'd be up for buying one! What's powering the fans?

Ive got em spliced into the output of the UBEC. They are 5V fans I bought on ebay and I'm running them on 6v. Basically just used a splitter at the batt input on the rx and soldered a servo plug on the end of the fan wires. Makes for easy hook up and diconnect for maintenance.

Ive seen people use 12v and runn them right off the battery packs also.

This heatsink is almost exactly what I have planned to offer for this controller. It is the exact same principle as mine(without being an integrated chassis component) and should work on most any vehicle. Adding the holes to mount to the stock maxx motor plate is a feature I hadn't thought of, but it is a nice feature for sure.
The heatsink/fan combo makes a tremendous difference for sure. My controller temps was under 120F after the 15 minute main this weekend - barely warm! Very nice design, Jeff. :)

So are you planning on releaseing this soon? I was going to look into having a small batch made for those who were interested. If you are going to be releasing yours soon, then I wont bother. I'm not sure how you have yours configured, but please use the e-maxx motor plate mount idea if it make yours design able to be used in more applications. (like on any truck not using the g-maxx chassis)
