Ciao,
this will sound a little bit crazy, I know, but I run a mini-t with a mamba 25
controller, an external BEC, the mamba 8k motor and lipo 4S.
By now I'm using it with normal timing and a 16 pinion with 60 spur.
What can I say .... It' a ROCKET.
I cannot say with precision because I do not have any instruments to measure
the speed, but I think it can reach 130 km/h quite easily.
And I was very very surprised to see the motor was not so hot as I thought .

Sure, I am just able to make up and down on the street, without any turns,
and it's quite difficult to make it running straight on, even if it's longer about
5 cm and it has a Gyro on the steering servo.

Some pictures:

Ciao !
Daniele

So the mamba came, I'm having issues with where to put the rx and the esc? Anyone got some pics I can check out?

This is the way I did mine. I put them back to back on top. Its only way I could make it fit. Having the esc that close to the rx is probably not ideal, but I havent had any issues so far. Here are a few pictures so you can see what I mean.

BTW: I have the mamba 8K also. Total waste IMO if you run lipo. Its way to fast you cant control it. I have 3s and 2s packs for it, but I run it on a 6 cell nimh packs just to make it semi reasonable.

It actually has a broken outdrive cup right now. Last time I ran it I used 3s lipo and it just split the outdrive.:019: I have the new one, but I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. Like I said.... 8K is usless on 3s.:p

NewE: Sorry. I'm no help for a rc18....

It gets hot, but it hasn't blown up on me or anything.

yet....:013:

Here is a quote directly from the CC website under ''How fast does it go?'' section. Since they quote a speed with 3s, I would assume you can use 3s.

''Competition X Package: 8000 Kv
With the stock gearing and a 3cell lipo pack, one of our Mini-T's has been confirmed at over 60mph.
With a 2 cell lipo pack, or 8 cells = 48mph
6 cells = 32mph
Basically, this motor is almost unusable for actual racing, unless you've got a really big oval track, or will ONLY use 6 cells or less! Also - drive train parts at these speeds most likely will have a reduced lifespan - stock up on diff sets!
''

Yea. They were crap. Split on the first run. I should have known better. Anyway. The stockers are going back on when i finally get around to it. Its been sitting that way for a couple months now. Just never seem to find the time for the minis anymore.

3s should be no problem neweuser. My brother runs a 4s on your same setup on his 18mt and same with danverz as mentioned above. My brother however has only run it a few times so no telling how long that would last.
If you are using the stock chassis, please post some pics of it when you get it finnished so I can see how I'm going to do mine once my controller comes in.
Thanks

Yes we can call it a little drag-T :)
The gyro is an helicopter element, it's useful to compensate the rotor torque
by the tail rotor. It just "listen to any turn energy" and it try to compensate it.
The chassis is self made, from a 2mm silver cabon fiber.

Yes sure ... I have to say my goal was to make something really really fast.
My next step on the mini-t will be a 540 plettenberg shadow motor, a mamba maxx
controller. and some lipo 2S. I made some calculation and I think it will be able
to go over 150 km/h with a 42 pinion .... really do not know how I will be able to
make it fit, anyway it sounds cool for me :)

The mamba 8k with lipo 4S is sooooo fast. unbelievable.
I bet I'll be able to use it no more than 10 times. haha :)

Glad to see you like it.

Ciao,
Daniele

Sure, and without any problems.
You maybe will have some, if you go over 3S.

With a 3S pack you will push the mamba over 100.000 rpm.
With a 4S pack you will push it over 134.000 rpm.

I say: the controller is all right if you go for an external BEC ....
I think the motor is over its bearings capabilities ...with 4S but not with 3S.

So yes, you can use a 3S without problem with the 8k.

Just keep the temperature in mind, while you are trying different pinions.

Ciao,
Daniele
