The wire covering makes it look neater.

I ditched my racer-X and got the flexteks, otherwise my truck would look an awfull lot like this maxx too. (come to think of it)

too affraid to scratch the arms.. (hones as i am) now that sounds gay, right!?

Pillowballs that seem to brake with the smallest impact, i wanted more of a basher/racer than a pure racer.

The wire cover is nice and neat yes. Very nice looking. I have 3 feet for 1.50 from my LHS

Which pillowballs did you use? Steel? Ti? Aluminum?

Steel ofcourse.. I heard from different users on the UE forum that this is the weak link on the racer-X.. Sneeck broke quite a few of them on his truck.. (perhaps it's a lack of driving skills :P or too high curbs.. arh well.. No worries IMO, you can use the other hex-head on the UE balls to got them out..
