That's normal. I hear that sound from my 1515 1Y everytime I hit the brakes.

By the way, nice build. Now I'm torn between the MBX5T prospec and Losi 8T for my next build .

Hows your project coming along? Nice build. I am curious about the brakes with the mamba. You metioned you did not like the brakes. Any reason why you dont like them?

Have you had a chance to ring it out. Any temp reading by chance.

I am thinking about trying a medusa motor but I am not real sure about that yet.

I just didnt like the noise it made when braking and I had always thought mechanical brakes would be a bonus when doing a conversion for the adjustability and perhaps locking up the rear while hard braking in the front for fun bashing, not to mention the esc options. I skipped over it because I didnt really see a way for them to fit and I just wanted it running lol. I had my Gual bladder removed over the weekend and all my pieces arrived while in the hospital so I will start putting it together today as I cant do much else. Glad I have/love this hobby !!! Ill put up some pics when its finished.
Jay

edit: Thinking about it now, it was pre-monster and I was scared of using any car escs that were capable of 5s or 6s out due to all the nightmares with each of them, and was going to use a hv boat or heli one but the monster changed that, well did then didnt lol anyway have nothing but time to play so ill try it can always change back

No it drives perfect, no overheating pure speed and joy just that noise. Drives too well perhaps thats why I had to mess with it lol. I took it all apart, put the brakes on it and hooked the linkage up which took alot of fab work because the center diff is backwards. All I have to do is mount the servos but I hate it already. I think im going to put it back before I put holes in it. Oh well gave me something to do.... Im fine I was out bashing my RCs with the neighbor and it was hot and I was sucking down monster sodas and ate some kung pow chicken from Panda Express lol, thought I had indigestion but the wife dragged me to the hospital because I was yellow. They ended up yanking my gaul/gall ?bladder out of my belly button so now im at home baked on meds weeeee

Thanks man that seems to be the concensus. Im probably just nit picking because it runs so well and hasnt broken like all my other RCs. Im going to leave it and play with the fine adjustments a bit more.

agree my 1y makes that noise when braking. NO heat issues either.

well since I scrapped the brake idea I decided to "buff up" the center diff ..thought id share, I got an aluminum diff cup from nova rc, it seems nice, drove well and perfect fit, see how it wears next lube change LINK. I threw in a RR 47t wide spur and some protek ceramic bearings for the diff LINK good deal considering the stock losi bearings are the same price (though you get 4) . Lubed it up with some graphite with molybenum. RC monster mount gh alum top brace and alum front brace should be bullet proof now !! Its quiter and brake noise is a bit less, not $45 less

Very nice build .

Probably the nicest truggy build i have seen , not mentioning my X2 build

What made you decide to ditch the mech brake idea , i din't think you liked the esc braking on the truggy?

I wish I had a video of my nice lawn dart that broke the Neu ! That would have been a youtubes finest moron pick. Guess it will be a couple weeks till she rides again. It doesnt look that nice anymore, though I do clean it about every 3-4 bashes like an anal tard heh.. Ive been stopping around 15 minutes, before the lvc ever cuts off. I dont totally trust them lol Im usually at 7.2v. Im still learning to trust and love the Neu lipos. I havent given it a 15 minute WOT race yet pushing it to its limits, just the general neighborhood, park and construction site bashes.

Be well, enjoy Calis summer !
Jay

Thanks for the compliment, followed the lead of the bright ones here and got my questions answered and put it together... I ditched the brakes for a couple things. Ill make points incase someone wants to check issues or solve them or laugh that I couldnt.

1. the center diff is turned around in the 8T conversion so the pinion can reach the spur, so the top brace is turned too, which moves the front and rear brake cams which are different lengths and placements and would then push to stop instead of pull (or vice versa I dont remember) and they dont line up anyway. I drilled out a hole in the front center brace next to where the cam was originally and shortened the rear cam to fit in the front new hole. I dont entirely remember but it goes together after that and some shims somewhere in there lol I dunno if one of those extra long pinions would have just fit with everything in its normal place.

2. you would have to drill alot of holes to mount up the servos and the brake servo would be partially supported on the mudguard which was lame.

After messing with all that and nearly drilling, I didnt want to mess up the 8T because it looked so clean and was together so nice with the parts everyone recommended..The mystery and romance of doing it was gone because Tekno has their version out now with a wider chassis and all the stuff to do it right. (and im lazy) So I just put it back and figured id buy that and try it out eventually. If i dont like it one of you can buy it from me for less and see if you do lol..

Sorry to ramble and be vague but maybe someone will know what I mean when they are staring at the brake parts, servos and 8T lol
Thanks,
Jay

I had a crazy noise when braking...
It turned out to be air in my ballooning road rage tire escaping out through small air hole in the rims.
I was a scary hiss after a high speed and stop.
bigger air holes solved it

Ya I was inspired by these guys 8t's as well.. I went the tekno v3 route though also a nice way and I still have the mechanical brakes (love um!). I have a cheap ESC in there as a hold over until I get one of my two v3 MMM's when they start shipping.. 1 of 4 v2 mmm's actually held up and is still working but it's in my e-revo.

Question on J Rulix half ups - 05.10.2009, 11:02 PM

Quick question- Anybody have any idea if J rulux 1/2 offset wheels will mount on 40 series road rage tires? I mostly do on road with my 8T brushless conversion and want some sweet wheels and tires. I currently have 40 series road rage with wabash wheels.
