i ordered that same chassis for my savage, in order to build in a centerdiff.

that skid, where is it on the site of FLM, can't find it..

It's halfway down the Savage products page, theres a version for the extended or non-extended. The chassis is awesome! It's stronger, but it's also 40 mm longer. Are you putting a center diff in the regular transmission, or just putting in a buggy diff like mine?

With just the center diff, are you going to be able to get the gearing down where it needs to be? I know even the 1/8th buggy guys have issues with gearing low enough for brushless, so I would think it would be even worse in a savage with the taller tires.

Use a lower KV-rated motor. A 7XL is too hot for this setup. (on 12 cells it would work though)

I think that is the reason for E-traxxer to ask if i used it in the savage transmission. The HB lightning uses a 10/43 diff ratio though.

Is the 7xl too hot because he's running a center diff? I can't really remember seeing a Savage with a 7xl before, but would it be doable if you keep the stock tranny?

Would it cog as much as my 9L does, or does it go smoother?

Smoother. It simple has got more magnetical power to get the train moving.

It's finally done!!! I have my 7020 in there still, my 9920 hasn't come yet. I can fit 18 cells inside the chassis, so they are completely protected :)

Well, I just got out for a test run. I must say I'm not too impressed, but then again, these batteries ARE stick packs, and they weren't recently charged. It's really glitchy, the steering is responding fine, but when I peg the throttle for a few seconds, the motor seems to be getting power, then losing it, then getting it back again. I think I'm overgeared a bit too, the motor was cold to the touch, but the ESC was 97 degrees after around 5 minutes, and I never even went close to full throttle. Anyone have an idea why my truck is spuddering? (And no, it's not cog :P ) Could any interference be caused by the motor being so close to the receiver?

That looks pretty sweet. On 18 cells, it should be a beast! Try charging your batteries and see what happens. they could need a few cycles. The glitch could be one or more of several things. The antenna could be touching metal, a capacitor could have come loose on the controller. It could be weak transmitter batteries or a bad servo or receiver or crystal. I would start with the simle things like location of the electronics and go from there.

Hmm.. I think that the antenna is touching the TVP's which are metal :/. Im using a synthesized transmitter/receiver, so no crystals to check :) The servo is fine, the transmitter batteries were just replaced (shows 12.3 volts) all the capacitors are in place, so it must be the batteries. I'll cycle them a few times and if that doesn't help, I'll transplant a receiver from a different car real quick to test it out. It's too late to try anything out though, so I'll give an update tommorow.

Me too! :D Oh, and I also forgot to add that I stripped my plastic spur gear.. two of them. Is it OK to use the metal one that came on the center diff? The plastic ones strip too easily with the cogging and all the torque!

you would need a hardened pinion. if not the pinion wouldnt last long at all.
