plus the built-in LVC is just one more thing to go wrong with the packs and make you have to scrap them prematurely.

Yes but for dummies like me, the ease of the Scorpian packs' plug and play makes it worth it. Not that I even know what's involved in conecting an LVC to other packs anyway. So if everything is allready there and built in on the Scorpian packs, they sound good to me. How common is it for an LVC to go out anyway?
Papa, have you made your decision yet?

Not very likely, unless it gets shorted out or is exposed to extreme heat or is physically damaged.

FMA now has a two-pack option for the Scorpion 3200 2s pack. It's $215 for two, which saves $5 (a single pack is $110). It's not a huge savings, but it may be what my next purchase is.

They actually call it the Monster Truck Pack :)

I am torn between the 3200 packs or the6400packs. I like the idea of the longer runtimes. But do I need it? Must go ten minutes+ ?

Sorry for the double post. They are also listing this power supply for the charger. Nice price.

It depends on how you gear and how much your vehicle demands from the battery. For instance, I used a Dynasty 19T brushed motor with a Novak GT7 in my XXX-4 with the 2s 3200 pack. That buggy would easily go 15 minutes racing, and I'm sure it would be the same with a mild brushless system. However, if I went to a 10T brushed or aggressive brushless, I wouldn't expect much more than 8-10 minutes.
I geared for racing on the track I run at. I needed no more than a 19T motor, so that's what I ran. Speed is great, but it kills parts quick when you have more speed than you can handle on the track. I gear for overall performance over speed when racing.

Well the xxxt has novak 5800ss, geared per the manual. The Super Gmaxx has the 1940/6. Its just been on my mind.

The 5800ss should easily make 12 minutes or so. Drop a tooth on the pinion and you'll get closer to 15 minutes, I'm sure.
The 1940/6 is another matter. I would think you'd get a good 10 minutes with the 3200 packs, but it does depend on gearing.
I have two of the 6400 packs for when I run with the nitros this coming outdoor season, but I don't run them with other electrics since they weigh more, require modification to the battery mounting setup (the packs are about 5mm taller than a nimh pack), and just aren't needed for a 5-minute race.

LOVE the Scorpion's -

I can't say enough good things about the Scorpion LiPo packs and chargers when used on my E-Maxx. I got them at the end of the season and they really brough my truck alive. I posted a thread in the brushless forum with pix and all. Great stuff, plenty of volts for my 10L and 9L to haul my E-Maxx around. Also the LVC (which is a great safety feature) can be disabled (should not but if you are worrying... Also the charger is super smart. Balances, makes the packs happy and charges nice and safe. The light 3200 packs really help lower the weight of the truck which helps with accel and handling.
They are really wonderful - I'm very happy - try them and you will be too.

If you wouldn't mind saving some cash and getting a higher amp-rated power supply, get this one:
http://www.emtel.com/search/product_...t_id=EMV15012V
You have to wire it yourself. It isn't hard to do, you just cut up a 3-wire cord (like the kind for a computer power supply) and screw the wire into the posts.

Does anyone know if FMA will custom make a Scorpion pack for you?
I like the idea of those "monster truck" packs, but would like to get a little more voltage to my 9L than the 14.8v of those monster truck packs.
For example, would I be able to run one 5s pack (one pack per speed controler for my dual setup?) I would particularly like a setup like that for my dual 9L Maxx because I am currently using 4 chargers to charge the 4 7cell Nimh packs that are in it now. And if I would be able to run two 5s packs(1 per motor/controler), that would eliminate 2 extra scorpion chargers that I would have to buy.
The 9L can handle up to 19.2v (16cells) can it not?
Please let me know how far out of wack my thinking is.:o or if it even made sense.
Thanks.

That would push the 9L a bit too much imo, (46000 rpm under load)
it will be hot for sure, you're better of with higher turn
I doubt if FMA makes a custum pack, they should consider making bigger balanced packs though, but i bet they are considering that..

For what you're asking, FMA makes the BalancePro HD lipo line now.
http://www.fmadirect.com/new_applica...shPG/index.htm
You can buy a single pack from 2s1p 7.4V 3200mah up to 6s3p 22.2V and 9600mah, with all of the benefits of the Scorpion system - up to 3C charge, 20C discharge, balancing, low-voltage cut-off.
They also say this in regards to BalancePro HD
"Additionally, custom BalancePro HD packs can be
configured to fit your individual needs.
Please contact our Technical Support team for
that special pack you have in mind."
The Scorpion packs are for the people who want "normal" voltage :)
