I can't comment on his ( retarded ) videos as he blocked me

I strongly suggest everyone gives him hell for being an idiot ( deans are rated for 65amps continuous, go figure they melted and the esc died ).

  • I like your vids, but man you made a booboo with this setup. You can't use Deans for a high amperage setup like the XO is and wonder why the ESC went up in smoke and solder started melting.

  • @Snellemin So, wait a minute-
You are saying that the first ESC, WHICH WAS STOCK AND ON TRAXXAS CONNECTORS STRAIGHT FROM FACTORY, which also, HAVE THE SAME RELATIVE RESISTANCE AS DEANS, blew up because the wrong connectors were on!?!?!?!
Then the second ESC which had my Deans on it, it blew up because I used connectors with the same relative resistance as the factory???
I just want to make sure we establish a Squirrel "booboo" on STOCK or a "traxxas didnt use bullet connectors" "booboo"

  • @Snellemin Further, I have used Deans on high powered with no issues. The Deans went up in smoke, much like the traxxas connectors did, as the ESC crapped out, and as the ESC had a class C fire burning it, the heat from the wires connected to the wire was hot enough to melt the solder and detach from the wire.
This is on stock traxxas and the deans.
I have used Deans and 5/6mm bullets on high power. On good ESCs the temps on the deans were not hot.

  • @Squirrelod I said High Amperage and not High Power(Watts). I too use Deans with high burst of Amps, but never continuously. Deans are rated around 65A. Do you really think the Traxxas XO setup pulls 65A continuously?? The Castle ESC uses 6.5mm bullet connectors for the motor alone. Doesn't that alone give you an indication that Deans would not suffice?

He's saying how much better it is to use electrical tape over shrink tube as he's waiting for his 3RD ESC replacement.

Why all the talk about which connector to use? Just twist the wires together and use wirenuts.

You need little stickers with flames on it ,and only then would you know that they are capable of handling whatever you throw at it.

Wow the Chipmuck dude is on fire. Now he says to blame Traxxas for the use of their connectors. Then he says the MMM is a ticking bomb. A Tekin or MGM with Deans would not have smoked.

Imagine if he had combined that with all the extra power of Maxx Amps batteries!!!!!

I highly doubt the Dean's plug is in any way responsible for the flame. Rated for 65amps continuous or not, they can safely burst MUCH higher current. A properly soldered Dean's plug(or Traxxas plug) can flow as much or more current with similar resistance than standard 10g or 12g wire and average draw will be less than 65amps almost certainly over the course of a run. Hell a 30 amp circuit in a house requires 10g wire to meet building code. I agree that the Castle bullets are better, but highly doubt the Dean's or Traxxas plugs to be the cause of anything here.

*Grumble grumble*

Well, I'd put it down to the traxxas batteries maybe then- would be nice to see some eagletree data on his failed runs.

All the same though, squirrel was stripped of his Moderator status & banned from the BYT forum for a good reason; the guy is really not as clued up as he makes out & has a really nasty personality when you get on the wrong side of him ( narcissism is just the tip of the iceberg.... ).

Defending Squirrel is the last thing you will catch me doing. I had a run in with that Jerk a couple years ago. You are right on with your comments. I was defending the Dean's plugs.

I find it funny/laughable that people don`t prep the tires with some sorta traction compound or tire warmers. Also people drive it on public streets that obviously have dips and cracks and then people are surprised that they have crashed or flip over/blow overs. The XO-1 is meant to be low to the ground and use aerodynamic effect to help achieve the 100 mph.
As for 1/8 buggies they are using shear horse power to get to these speeds and they don`t come RTR out of a box.

P.s. I think the OP is trolling or being meme

wait wait wait, so I shouldn't use Deans in my Baja 1/5 Brushless conversion?

...seriously even I knew that one! I think I have peeved off squirrel more than anyone, I am banned from the toyz forums, and the toyz owner has blocked me from purchasing from his store or his ebay id.

Whoopdedoo!
