i think i found the answer to my own question, i figured up your setup Lincpimp in the calculator and it said you should be running about 41mph, you said 38 SOOO im guessing the resistance and surface has MUCH to contribute too. i also didnt figure on full voltage and gave .2 inches for tire balloning and a 4.2 inch tire height. so im thinking along the lines of knocking off 3-5 mph off what the calculator says. with my setup i was getting the following (these already have 3mph taken off to be more realistic). these are with the stock tires.
12t= 29mph
13t= 32mph
14t= 35mph
15t= 38mph
16t= 40mph

i dont wanna gear it high, what i really want is flat out sick acceleration, it does need to top out around the 35+ range due to i will have to run agianist 1/8th buggies and truggies at the track (both nitro) so that i dont get killed on the straights. i did figure a 12t or 13t will work great breaking in the lipo and for when i get some bigger bashing tires. im leaning towards the 15t for my second pinion that should let me keep up with the 8th scales pretty easy, will the 9L hold up good to this kind of gearing and not got very hot?

founde a video of the lgt10 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy-gStxLku8 ) as far as chassis goes it appears to have an extra set of shocks front and rear, bigger tires and wheels, and different shock towers is there any other differences chassis wise??? just wondering if later i could add the extra shocks and different towers for bashing becasue what you see in the video is pretty much what ill be doing with this and then racing at a track every now and then.

i think im gonna pick up a set of moabs for bashing around at first racing wont start back till febuary so im gonn get a 13t for the 5 inch tall moabs and a 15t pinion for the 4.2inch tall stock tires.

think this would work pretty good?

I'm also thinkiing of getting the LS10 to replace either my BL Revo or my unfinished Hellfire truggy. Being lighter and smaller, finding a BL system is easier and cheaper, and the batteries don't have to be quite as robust.

Don't worry, we'll be nice and sell you one of them.... at a 100% markup of course.

Let me know when it is ok to do that. I have a nib ls10 on my shelf at the moment. I bought it to replace my converted ls10 that i bought used. However the old one is stil going strong so I may not need the new one!

Great truck, superior IMO to the crt.5, maybe not on the track, but it is larger and has more ground clearance. You can actually play in grass and very rough surface, which the crt.5 did not like!

i actually have the funds to get one, but i told myself i would sell my other cars before i bought another. i'm finding it hard to hold back since i know what i want now and i'm a pretty impulsive person by nature.

Parts availability is one of the main reasons why I like Traxxas; most LHS carry just about everything in stock without waiting for shipping. Just about every other brand requires that dang waiting period. When I break a part, I want a replacement now! I usually end up getting an assortment of parts that I think will break, but I'm usually missing that one little part to complete the repair. :grrr:
